Our 9 year old, spayed female Sheltie has been refusing to

Customer Question

Our 9 year old, spayed female Sheltie has been refusing to go potty for about 3 days. We think she's not eating (we have another dog, and although he usually doesn't touch her food, we're no 100% positive which dog is eating her food!) We do think she's constipated, and we'r taking measures to alleviate it. She just plops herself in our room and doesn't budge all day. She is an excessive barker, but even that has slowed down significantly! She is the second smallest runt of her litter, and it took 5 years before she quit peeing in the house on a consistent basis , and she usually never misses an opportunity to go outside to pee, so her bladder must loaded with pee by now!" What do you think the problem could be?
Thank you,

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today.

Do you mean she isn't passing urine or feces or both? Any straining to do either?

Any gagging, retching, lip licking, drooling or vomiting?

Is she drinking even if not eating?

Are her gums pink or pale/white? Moist or sticky?

If you press on her belly, any discomfort, tenderness, or tensing?

Could she have eaten something she should not have (ie bones, toys, plants, chemicals, etc)?
