Hello! My name is ***** ***** it will be my pleasure to help you with your dog today.

How old is Emma?

Is she still drinking normally?

Urinating/defecating normally?

If you look in her mouth, does everything appear normal?

Have you noticed any swelling around her face?

When was the last time she had a complete physical?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Emma is 6 years old.
She is drinking normally as of yesterday, did not see her drink this morning.
She is urinating and defecating normally.
Looking in her month is hard, but it appears okay, except she struggles with one side (right side). But if I touch her jaw or message it, she does not whimper or act like it is sore.
No swelling around her face is noticeable.
Last physical was about 6 months.

Has she ever had a dental cleaning?

Do her teeth look brownish?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
No dental cleaning and some tartar.

Great. Thanks for the additional information. I really appreciate it.

It sounds to me like this might be a dental issue.

The fact that she's not wanting to eat and seems to be struggling with her mouth, combined with the fact that she's a small breed dog who are prone to having dental problems makes me think that's what we're dealing with here.

Since this has been going on for a couple days, the best thing to do is to have your vet take a peek at her. Just like with humans, if this is a dental infection, they'll need to get her on some antibiotics to help heal and get the infection cleared up.

Once that's taken care of, they may want to do a good dental cleaning, but they're likely going to want to start with the antibiotics and possible pain medications.

I hope this helps.
