have an orphaned puppy about almost 5 weeks old and has straining in bowel movements and when I touch its anal part there was a small large ball underneath the tail

Customer: how do I soften the ball of dried poop the dog is straining to poop and when I touch it , it started to whine

no blood and the ball is located near the tail and the puppy seemed to have past some stool but the hard ball is still there. I will take a picture as soon as I go home from work and be back tomorrow.

Thanks for your help but the puppy was constipated and was slowly pushing it out and the puppy is well again :)
