I dropped a 2.5 mg tab of letrazole and my poodle/bichon

Customer Question

I dropped a 2.5 mg tab of letrazole and my poodle/bichon grabbed it before I could piclk it up.
JA: I'll do all I can to help. What seems to be the problem with your poodle?
Customer: He ate a 2.5mg tab of letrazole (Femara) that I dropped
JA: The Veterinarian will know if your poodle will be able to digest that. What is the poodle's name and age?
Customer: Merlin 5 years
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Merlin?
Customer: He is otherwise healthy

Thank you for your question. My name is***** I have been a small animal veterinarian for 14 years and I'd like to help with your question.

Can you tell me how much Merlin weights? I generally wouldn't expect much side effects with just 1 tablet ingestion, but it will hep to know how big he is.

He weighs about 22 - 24 lbs

I wouldn't expect more than mild intestinal upset from an single dose in a dog this size.

Thank you. I'd already called my own vet, but they weren't familiar with the Letrazole, so this helps.

Just monitor him.... maybe some bland food, chicken and rice for a day or two. But that is all he should need.
