Customer Question

I have a scottie that is very bloated. She had seemed to get better, I fed her pumpkin with her food, she ate a little, had a small bowel movement and now she isn't eating and just lays there. up until yesterday she was at lest moving. Exhusband dropped her off saying was fine. I am strapped for funds and can't afford an ER or local doctor due to every one wants paid at time of service. Is there anything I can do to help her?

I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner, Ibbie. I'm concerned that your Scottie's bloating isn't due to gaseous distension of her gastrointestinal tract but, instead, an abdominal effusion (free fluid in her abdominal cavity). I regret that this isn't something you can manage at home. She'll need to have her abdomen X-rayed or ultrasounded to better understand why she's so bloated. I can only encourage your having her attended to by a vet at your earliest convenience. See if local vets offer CareCredit - a revolving credit card used only for vet expenses.

Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
