Customer Question

Hi. My dog Bob turned 6 in April. He's a black lab. We brought him home from doggie daycare yesterday and he has been acting odd and seems very ill. He is drinking water at marathon speed, not coming up for air At doggie daycare he wa doing this then throwing up, even drinking from the other dogs' bowls He's never done that before
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully it didn't make a mess. Did Bob eat anything unusual?
Customer: We don't know what food they give them there but I know it's not Alpo or one of the major brands from supermarkets It's supposed to be a more natural brand
JA: How old is Bob?
Customer: He turned 6 on April 15
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Bob?
Customer: He's also walking kind of gingerly. I'm having to guide him outside by the collar. This is also not normal

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your situation, and wanted to help.

Again I do apologize that my colleagues could not aid you sooner. If you would still like assistance, can you tell me:

Are his gums nice and pink (not white/pale)? Moist or sticky?

If you press on his belly, does he have any tensing, tenderness, discomfort, or pain?

Could he have eaten anything he should not have (ie bones, toys, plants, chemicals, human meds, etc)?
