Ask a Dog Vet and Get Answers to Your Dog Health Questions
Hello. Thanks for the question.
It sounds like he is pretty dehydrated. That can happen quickly when a dog is not eating/ drinking and they are losing fluids in vomit or diarrhea. If you can get him to an ER vet, that would be best. They'll likely run some screening bloodwork to make sure it's nothing metabolic.
If the bloodwork is normal, then some symptomatic care with fluids, GI antibiotics and appetite stimulants should get him feeling better and on the way to recovery.
If you have to wait until tomorrow, I would try to syringe some water or pedialyte or gatorade tonight to try to help with the hydration before going in tomorrow.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
I hope you're able to get back to this page.
