Customer Question

Hi Our dog was throwing up a big gob of white mucus very sticky, he is acting a tiny bit lethargic and doesn't want to eat. No diarrhea and his nose is warm . He was coughing trying to get something up the day before and my husband gave him some Robitusin DM so today he's not coughing anymore and not throwing up after that last gob but he's not eating. Do you know what could be wrong?
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. This sounds like it might be serious. I'll let the Veterinarian know what's going on ASAP. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the dog?

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with your wee one today.

How long has he had these signs?

Was he just coughing before? Or any gagging, retching, lip licking, drooling or vomiting more then mucus?

Is he drinking and can he keep water down?

Are his gums pink or pale/white? Moist or sticky?

Could he have eaten something he should not have (ie bones, toys, rocks, plants, chemicals, etc)?

What foods did you try with him?
