JA: I'm sorry to hear that. The Veterinarian will know if the dog will be able to digest that. What is the dog's name and age?

Hello. Thanks for the question.

This is something that will likely need to be surgically removed. A soda can will obviously not digest. It can cause some significant irritation to the gut and potentially obstruct or perforate the gut.

I would recommend getting x-rays to confirm that it was swallowed. I would then either induce vomiting to get it up or go in surgically or with endoscopy and remove it. Which route depends on the sizes of pieces and the equipment available.

I would get this done within 4-6 hours so that it's done before any pieces move out of the stomach.
