My Male Shiba went in some pushes 3 weeks ago and came out

Customer Question

My Male Shiba went in some pushes 3 weeks ago and came out with what looked like some scratches from blackberry pushes on his paws and above his right eye, but they have not healed and are spreading, red bare skins can be seen..what is this and how do we treat him?

Hello, my name is***** and I will help you.

But I am going to ask you a few questions first.

Did you originally see actual scratches? As in a line of broken skin?

Dose this itch? Does he scratch?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No, I didn't see the actual scratches. According to my care providers of my dogs when we were away, they took him to a large park off leash area and he went into bushes. It must be itchy as he licks his paws all the time.

The reason that i asked about the scratches was because Shibas have such dense hair that it would be difficult to see scratches unless they were large.

And scratches should have healed by now.

Then we have to consider insect bites. But these usually have an immediate painful response.

The next most common cause of licking the feet would be an allergy.

It could be food, fleas, grasses.and many other things.

Is he just licking or is he chewing?

All feet or just the front ones?

Is he rubbing around the eyes?

Look at his belly. Is it red also?
