My dog is 13 yrs old and had a narrowing of the esophagus

Customer Question

my dog is 13 yrs old and had a narrowing of the esophagus and is having some fainting spells but comes out of it right soon after. She has a cyst on her ear above the main entry. our vet wants to put her under and clean her teeth and remove the cyst. Should I be? She also had bladder stones removed in 07 and I am concerned she has them again.

Linda, esophageal narrowing (an uncommon disorder) shouldn't cause fainting (syncopy). Please clarify what's narrowed. If Laci is syncopal, there's likely to be a cardiac problem - an arrhythmia (irregular heart rate), usually.
