I took my dog into her vet this morning, because she had a stroke. I'm surprised on how better she is 12 hours latter, not 100%, but maybe about 30-40% better. She continues to have weakness on her left side. The Vet gave her a shot of Prednisone, and gave me Prednisone pills to give her for next 7 days, once a day.
I'm a little concern tonight about her lack of drinking water so far. She has eaten a good bit of peanut butter and she loves yogurt. She did have some fresh cooked turkey and carrots with spinach. I chopped them up and spoon fed her. She ate it all. Just concerned about the lack of interest in water. But pleased that she has enjoyed her peanut butter, yogurt and ate a little meal. She has pottied outside, with my assistance, normally. She takes the first prednisone pill in the morning

Hi there- I wonder if Sammi may have been given fluids along wit her prednisone shot while she was at the hospital. If she did receive fluids, she will not be thirsty for a while. Have you offered her any dog food, or only the foods you mentioned? Does she have an appetite for her regular food? You can add some water in with the food you have been giving her to make sure she stays hydrated. Usually as long as a pet is eating, we can get them to take in water with the food. Also- when pets are on steroids like prednisone- this usually makes them very thirsty. That's what makes me wonder if she did receive some fluids at the hospital. Please let me know if further questions arise- I will be online intermittently throughout the day!
