Hi, I'm Dr. Jo and would like to help! Are you asking if you can allow Mandy to eat a shrimp that has not been peeled?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
can she eat cooked or uncooked shrimp shells
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
hello?
Expert:  Dr. Jo replied 1 year ago.

I would not feed any raw seafood to your dog because of bacteria that could make her sick......the shells will not hurt her in small quantities, but it would be best for her to not eat them if you can take them off for her!

Did Mandy get into some shells already by accident? If so, I would not worry at this point, but I wouldn't feed them to her on a regular basis simply because they could upset her stomach. The shells are not easy for her stomach to break down. She will pass them in her stool. Does that address your concern?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I was concerned that my husband was feeding her cooked shells and that they would harm her in some way. It sounds like they could.

She will pass them in her stool, so a few will not hurt her. My main concern is GI upset as she cannot digest them and if she ate them in large quantities it could make her uncomfortable.

It really isn't much different than us! I'm surprised she likes them. :)

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
well they were cooked in garlic and olive oil
