Our 6 yr old female Corgi-Blue Healer mix started dragging

Customer Question

Our 6 yr old female Corgi-Blue Healer mix started dragging her butt of and on yesterday. This morning she dragged her butt on the carpet and there was a bright red blood stain. She is eating and drinking water, she had a bowel movement last night and urinated. Her feces last night didn't show any outward signs of blood.

I am sorry to hear you are worried about your dog. My name is Rebecca. I am a veterinarian and will do my best to help.

This could be an infection in one of her anal glands, if the blood is not in her feces. I would have her anal glands checked (putting on a glove and feeling inside the anus where the glands are located) and starting antibiotics if there is blood in one of the glands.

Let me know if this helps and what other questions I can answer.
