My dog has a lump appeared on the underside of his neck, he is behaving normally and doesn't seem to mind the lumb being touch the lump came up yesterday i assumed he had been bitten or stung as he was trying to eat flys n the garden but there is no redness

You're correct to suspect an envenomation by flying insect, spider, or snake but if you live where Marley 2 could ingest a foxtail, I have to be concerned that you're seeing a foxtail abscess. Please take a look at the image of a foxtail and let me know.
