I'm sorry, just being clear- what are you looking to treat? Fleas?

Oh I see- you want to use black walnut hull for a flea preventative. This is something that has recirculated from time to time. I have never used it, but I have colleagues that practice alternative therapies and they vehemently advise against this practice. Black walnut hull has potential to be toxic, and there is no proven efficacy against fleas or any parasites. I would stick with something that is safe and that works. There are many products out there from monthly topical meds (Frontline, Advantage) to monthly oral meds (Comfortis). These are all well studied and very safe, especially in these large dogs. The most we see as side effects is some GI upset with the oral meds in smaller dogs mainly. Even those episodes are self limiting. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
