Thank you for your question. My name is***** I have been a small animal veterinarian for 14 years and I'd like to help with your question. Most dogs that seem constipated, actually have colitis... the lining of their colon is inflamed so that they feel like that have to go even if their colon is empty. This causes straining with no bowel movements coming... so people think that they are constipated. A glycerin suppository is going to make a dog with colitis worse so I avoid them unless I am 100% sure that they are constipated. (Usually confirmed with X-rays) If they are definitely constipated then glycerin suppositories are safe to use. A small dog can have a pediatric one. They don't work that well, but they can be used. I hope that helps, but if you have more questions let me know. If not, please don't forget to rate my answer.
