Good Evening,This is Dr. Stevens, I would be concerned about a possible staph infection on the skin if he is loosing patches of fur. Yeast infections usually occur with the staph and can give off a horrible odor. I would recommend bathing every other day with a antibacterial shampoo and leave it on for 10 minutes and then rinse off. As for the swelling on the back legs, there can be many diseases that cause that and it is concerning. Lack of walking, heart disease, poor circulation etc. Try using warm compress and massaging the legs to reabsorb the fluid.
