Clomipramine has a narrow margin of safety. Clinical signs can be seen at or slightly above therapeutic range - at 1-1.5 mg/lb or 25 - 37.5 mg in Lilly. It would be prudent to induce emesis by administering 2 measuring tablespoons (30 mL) of 3% hydrogen peroxide by means of a small poultry baster placed between Lilly's cheek teeth and cheek. Lilly should vomit within 15 minutes. If not, please repeat the same dose.

Overdosage with tricyclics such as clomipramine can be life-threatening (arrhythmias/irregular heart rates, seizures, cardiorespiratory collapse). In dogs, lethal doses are approximately between 23 - 46 mg/lb, however. Inducing emesis is predicated upon Lilly ingesting the 80 mg within 2 hours.
