Customer Question

I've had my puppy for exactly one week now (cockapoo). I read so much conflicting information that I've diagnosed him with everything!
JA: Thanks. Can you give me any more details about your issue?
Customer: He sleeps a lot. But I read thats normal. Today he had one of his biggest days ever, played for several hours with another 1 year old pup at my friend's place... He seems way more tired than usual - we had a scare that he may have eaten a geranium petal today... I would love to chalk it up to he's just super wiped but his ears feel warm. I think more than usual. Again, I've had him a week, he hasn't been very consistent with anything (eating, sleeping, stamina, etc.) He is 9 weeks old - getting over girardia.
JA: OK got it. Last thing — Dog Veterinarians generally expect a deposit of about $19 to help with your type of question (you only pay if satisfied). I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. What I've heard so far indicates a normal 9 week old pup. Yes, pups sleep a lot, run around like crazy and then sleep some more. He exhausted himself playing. He doesn't know his own limits yet. The temperature of his ears is a poor indication of his body core temperature. When assessing that, his rectal temperature needs to be taken by an body thermometer placed 1" into his rectum for 1 minute. Normal is 100.5-102.5F. This is a two person job! His Giardia might make potty training him delayed. If diarrhea persists, let his vet know. It's not unusual to have to retreat these pups. Please give me an update on him if you wish.
