My dog had worms, she hasn't had any of her shots either.

Customer Question

My dog had worms, she hasn't had any of her shots either. She's just 6 weeks old and is breathing very heavily. What advice can you give me to help her? I got her some deworming medicine and she no longer poops them out. And her poop isn't solid. She's not very active either.

I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. "Breathing very heavily" is an important symptom but can represent heart or lung disease as well as systemic diseases in which metabolic acidosis (a low blood pH) has arisen. Because her symtoms are important but not pathognomonic (specifically indicative) of any one particuar disorder, she'll need to have a vet thoroughly examine her in order to clarify why she isn't well. Other than worming her two weeks after the first worming - a product containing either pyrantel pamoate or fenbendazole is best - and supplementing her fluid intake with forced feeding of an infant fluid/electrolyte replacer such as Pedialyte (or generics) + a puppy food gruel if she isn't eating well - there's little else you can do for her.

Please give me an update on her and please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
