My dog inhaled the smoke of sriracha when we were cooking

Customer Question

Hi. My dog inhaled the smoke of sriracha when we were cooking last night and she will not eat and has been vomiting every few hours. Is there anything I can give her? She was eating fine immediately before the smoke.

To help with the upset stomach, you can give an over the counter antacid. The one I use most frequently is Famotidine (Pepcid). The dose I use is 0.25 mg per lb body weight. It can be given every 12-24 hours, as needed.

I would also try feeding a canned food or bland diet of chicken/ rice over the next 2-3 days. Once eating normally, you can switch back to her normal diet.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you. How should this medicine be administered?

It's given orally. It comes in 10 and 20 mg tabs. You're probably going to give 1/2 of a 10 mg tab for a typical Sheltie.
