I think my dog has ingested something that doesn't agree

Customer Question

I think my dog has ingested something that doesn't agree with him. He had diarrhea and vomited a bit yesterday. Shakes a bit and is lethargic. He isn't his usually self. I'm thinking he had been poisoned, but if that is the case, I feel he would be a lot worse by now. I really can't afford to take him to the vet right now. Is there something I can give him to help?

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with your wee one today.

What does his vomit and diarrhea look like? Any blood or black material?

Can he keep water down?

Are his gums pink or pale/white? Moist or sticky?

If you press on his belly, does he have any discomfort, tenderness, or tensing?

As far as you are aware, could he have eaten something he should not have (ie bones, toys, plants, chemicals, etc)?
