Customer Question

our dog Vader is resting his head on an ice pack. We just found him outside laying on the grass, which is not normal (indoor dog).
Lathargic, staying away form lights, looking for a dark place to go lay down. Not noisy at all, super quiet

Hello. Thanks for the question. It sounds like he may have a fever and pain. That would explain the seeking out of cold, hiding from lights and getting away from people and noise. The source of pain/ fever is always difficult to locate. I'll usually start with an exam and bloodwork. If nothing is found, I'll shoot x-rays, looking for any masses or pneumonia. If all that is normal, then I usually treat symptomatically with pain meds/ anti-inflammatory meds and broad spectrum antibiotics. I usually go with Rimadyl + Clavamox. If still no response, then more advanced imaging and diagnostics could be needed. This is not often the case. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
