I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. Please let me know if you still need help. Such a forceful heartbeat is seen with advanced cardiac disease and as part of many metabolic diseases. These patients need to be attended to by their vet at your earliest convenience. A thorough physical exam paying particular attention to the heart rate and quality of the beat is essential. X-rays of the heart and EKG may be recommended. If a heart murmur had been heard in previous physical examinations, primary heart disease should be the top differential diagnosis at this time.
