Customer Question

We have 2 dogs and just discovered that the new puppy (13 weeks) has what looks like tapeworms. We got the meds to give to the pup, but should we treat our older dog (1 year) as well?

Hi this is Dr. Gabby,

No, you do not need to treat the older dog as well.

The only way he will get tapeworms is from eating a flea infected with tapeworm or from eat a tapeworm segment.

But I would treat both for fleas just to reduce the chance he will get tapeworms.

Does that help? Do you have any additional questions?
