My dog who always eats well (food obsessed). Won't eat this

Customer Question

My dog who always eats well (food obsessed). Won't eat this morning or lick peanut butter her favorite. A small squeaker is missing that we took away from her. She might have eaten it, but we don't know. She seems alright, a little more laid back than usual. Her stomach is making a lot of noise as she sits on me.

Hello I am Dr. Joey. Thanks for trusting me to help you and your pet today. I am a licensed veterinarian with over 16 years of experience. I look forward to working with you.

This does sound suspicious that Lola might have swallowed or eaten something she should not have, or something she ate is upsetting her system. At the moment, though, she is stable which means she is not in pain and has no vomit/diarrhea. However, if she continues to have no appetite into tomorrow or develops vomit/diarrhea or abdominal/stomach pain, then she needs to be seen immediately.

For now, what you can do is to encourage her to rest. Keep her water available. Wait until this afternoon and then if still not eating try offering a bland diet of people food (white rice and chopped boiled chicken breasts, or you can substitute cottage cheese for the chicken). She can safely go a day without eating but longer than this becomes concerning.

I am at a point I need to know what questions you have. I hope that the information I provided has been helpful.
