he acts like he has whiplash..not sure what happen..i shoveled a spot for him to potty..when i came for him he could hardle stand and he was shivering..

Hello. Thanks for the question.

It sounds like he may have hurt his back or neck. The most common cause of that in dogs, is a ruptured or bulging disc in the back. This can happen during normal daily activity in dogs.

The treatment is typically with anti-inflammatory meds (Rimadyl) + something for nerve pain (Gabapentin). I also keep these guys exercise restricted for a good 1-2 weeks. Most will have a full recovery.

You can have your vet do a neuro exam to determine if that is the case and then prescribe meds as needed.
