Right... that sounds really miserable.

While some of the things that can cause a dog to show symptoms like this are simple and will go away on their own, others are more serious and can require aggressive treatment.

With Cha-cha being this uncomfortable, I would advise a trip to the emergency vet. That would be the best thing for him. It's much better to be safe than sorry, and he'll get the relief he needs the most quickly that way.

If the emergency vet is not an option for you, the best things to do to care for him at home are:

  • withhold all food and water until the vomiting stops
  • keep him inside where he can rest in bed as much as possible
  • watch all intake and output; this is important information for your vet
  • avoid the temptation to give any human medications; this can do more harm than good
