Hello, this is Dr. Jess. I am sorry to hear about your trouble with Oscar. Did he eat the pecan shell also, or just the nut inside? Is he acting normally? How many pecans has he eaten?

Hello? are you there?

Expert:  Dr. Michael Salkin replied 1 year ago.

I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. Pecans aren't toxic to dogs but the size of an unshelled nut would concern me for possible obstruction of Oscar's small intestine. Persistent vomiting and/or anorexia are the symptoms of obstruction.

Please give me an update on Oscar.
