I have a 12 year old Shetland sheep dog that has lost her

Customer Question

I have a 12 year old Shetland sheep dog that has lost her appetite for dog food. She has been ill. The last vet we saw in regard to her health said that she had a tumor in her abdomen however the ultrasound and X-rays did not support this. I was told she would not last a month without surgery. He told me she might last 3 months if She had the surgery. I opted not to have the surgery and it has been 5 months, but she is losing so much weight and losing all her hair. She is also vomiting more. I need to know if there is some kind of safe supplemental drink that I can give her.

Hi, this is Dr. Gabby.

You could try human vanilla ensure drink.

Or even better would be dogsure drink.

To help with the vomiting try 1/2 of a 10 mg pepcid ac tablet every 12 hours.

There is also a paste called nutrical. It is high in calories and vitamins. They sell nutrical at petsmart and online.

I hope that helps. Do you have any additional questions?
