I have a 10 y old pit lab mix, she start to have seizures

I have a 10 y old pit bull lab mix, she start to have seizures October 2015,after 3 seizures we had to call a mobile vet and she priscrib Zonisamide 200mg every 12 h,she start to act out of her mid, finally she refuse to take it, in one week she is back her self bot she having seizures every two weeks, please recommend what the best I can do for her

Hi. Welcome to Just Answer. My name is***** and I've been a veterinarian for 15 years. I'm sorry to hear about your girl's seizures and her possible reaction to the initial medications for it. In her situation, I would let your vet know that she isn't taking the medications any more and how she was acting on them. They may be in a position to start another oral medication like phenobarbital or Keppra (levetiracetam) to help control these events. If she's having them every 2 weeks, then better control would ideally be the goal. Here is a good link on seizures.
