11yr old dog with liver cancer and very uncomfortable at night. Can I make her comfortable till Monday and take her own Vet.? Thank you.

I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. A narcotic analgesic is usually prescribed for the visceral pain of liver cancer. Tramadol, buprenorphine, hydrocodone, and morphine are the most common choices. Please let me know if you have such a narcotic at home for which I might give a dose for your dog. I'll need her weight, please. The only over the counter safe analgesics are aspirin dosed at 10 mg/lb with food every 12 hours and acetaminophen dosed at 7 mg/lb thrice daily. They're not the best analgesics for visceral pain, however.
