How long has it been since your dog has eaten? Any diabetic who stops eating is usually either quite hyperglycemic or suffering from a concomitant disorder associated with diabetes such as pancreatitis or chronic renal insufficiency. His desiring water is consistent with either hyperglycemia or chronic renal insufficiency but there are quite a few possible etiologies for polydipsia (increased thirst). How old is your dog? Are there disorders concomitant with his diabetes of which you're aware? Are you able to check his blood glucose level?
