I have a 5 year old beagle. She was fine until I came home

Customer Question

I have a 5 year old beagle. She was fine until I came home one hour ago. She is shaking, won't take treats. No visible wounds. No nausea or vomiting. It does not appear she has gotten into anything. She does not appear to be comfortable.

I am sorry to hear you are worried about Candi. My name is Rebecca. I am a veterinarian and will do my best to help.

If you check her gums, are they pink in color, or do they seem pale?

Beagles can be prone to suddenly getting back pain, or neck pain, with no known injury or cause. When this happens, they do what you describe: stop eating, shake, and often are unwilling to move about.

Shaking is a sign of pain, or fever, or fear (are there any fireworks there tonight for New Years?). Can you take her temperature?

How is Candi doing?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Candi has been to her vet, the vet believes that she has a slipped disc in her back. She is on steroids, rest, and pain medicine for the next 3 weeks.
