Customer Question

Our Labrador who is 8 months old is frothing a lot at the mouth and seems a bit disorientated. We took him to the vet he is on antibiotics but he is having these episodes at least 3 or 4 times a week. The vet thought he might have been poisoned but there is absolutely nothing in our yard that could harm him. Could you please help?

I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. Can you clarify what you're seeing that implies disorientation? Disorientation is an important symptom indicating a change in mentation (mental status) indicative of encephalopathy (brain disorder). My initial thought was that he is suffering from complex partial seizures (also called psychomotor seizures) which are defined as focal or asymmetric sensory or motor activity which may be associated with autonomic signs (salivation, vmiting, e.g.) and are associated with a change in mentation and/or behavior abnormalities.
