My Jack Russel dog has been licking her groin area. It is red. Do I need to worry?

If possible, try to get her a cone head to try and prevent further licking or this could get quite a bit worse just overnight.

We don't know if this is due to some environmental allergy, possibly a insect bite or sting reaction, some other topical irritant or a skin infection.

You could try giving her some benadryl, which may also have a bit of sedative effect. The dose is about 1mg per pound. So, if anywhere around 25 pounds, just give a full tablet of 25mg benadryl.

You can apply hydrocortisone cream, but get to a vet sooner than later before she really causes it to get really raw.

Not sure how much to worry because if she keeps licking it, an infection can get worse.
