I accidentally stepped on my pugs paw and now a little swollen

My name is***** and I am sorry to hear that Paris was injured this evening.

First, can you examine the paw? Are there any places that are more painful than the rest? Can you wiggle each of her toes individually without any pain? Can you press on the middle of the paw, feeling each bone between your fingers? Does this cause pain? Can you bend her paw as far as it will go without pain?

First aid for Paris tonight will be to ice pack her paw. Take a small ziplock bag and put ice and water in it. Hold this, with a thin towel between the cold pack and her skin, directly over the most swollen area. Do this for about 5 minutes and then rest. Repeat in about 4 hours.

Also when she goes out for toileting, keep her on leash so that she cannot run around and possibly injure herself further.

If she is still lame in the morning or you find a spot that is very painful, she will need to see your regular vet in the morning for an exam and possible x-rays.

Does this help? Do you have any other questions?

I'm just following up on our conversation about Paris. How is everything going?

How is Paris's paw this evening? Is it still sore? Is she walking normally now? Do you have any more questions for me?
