Dogs who suffer from a foreign object in their oropharynx (back of the throat) are most often persistently salivating, gagging, and pawing at their mouth. Oral inspection of dogs such as yours often reveals inflammation suggestive of upper respiratory infection. If her behavior persists, a daytime vet can inspect your dog's oral cavity and might suggest having your dog's upper respiratory tract scoped if there's a history and strong likelihood of foreign body ingestion.
