My 1 1/2 year old 19.8 pound dog (I think) ate a 1mg

Customer Question

My 1 1/2 year old 19.8 pound dog (I think) ate a 1mg klonopin about 1 hour ago should I do anything at this time. He is acting fine right now. The pill fell on the floor and I could not find it, so I am assuming he ate it.

I am sorry to hear you are worried about your dog. My name is***** am a veterinarian and will do my best to help.

It is a good sign he is acting OK. I calculate his dose to be .1 mg per kg (2.2 pounds) of body weight; we calculate all drug doses and overdoses in mg per kg. That is at the very low end of the therapeutic range, if he was being prescribed this medication, so I would not expect you will see any problems.

Let me know how he is doing and if I can help with or answer anything else.
