Customer Question

I want to groom my new dog, a rescue schnauzer mix, about 9 months old, but she fights me too much. I tried .5 mg Xanax, but she still moved too much to let me use clippers.

Hi, this is Dr. Gabby. Most likely you will have to get something stronger than Xanax from a vet. The medication we normally use for sedation is called Acepromazine. It usually works well. If the Xanax did not keep her still nothing over the counter will help.

Putting a muzzle on her can distract her somewhat.

Also put her up somewhere high like a towel on a table. Being up high can be distracting and help her hold still as well.

How does that sound?
