I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. Petri is experiencing a hypersensitivity reaction called angioedema. This can occur after being envenomated by a flying insect or spider, caused by a food, drug, insecticide or other chemical, vaccinations, or even environmental pollens and variables. Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) is reasonable at a dose of 1-2 mg/lb and repeated at 8-12 hour intervals. If this antihistamine doesn't suffice, Petri's vet can administer a corticosteroid such as prednisone which should do wonders. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
