I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. While mineral oil can be used to safely remove paint from paws, mineral spirits (turpentine) is a petroleum distillate that will burn and penetrate the skin. It can act systemically - central nervous system depression - if enough is absorbed but generally isn't considered of high toxicity. There's no antidote for this solvent and so hopefully you thoroughly washed his paws with soap and water and provided him with analgesia in the form of aspirin dosed at 10 mg/lb with food which can be repeated at 12 hour intervals. Please give me an update on Buddy. I have to leave my computer for a few hours but promise to reply when I return if need be.
