Customer Question

Our adopted great dane has a bad case of diarrhea. We adopted him 6 weeks ago. He's quite thin & wasn't gaining weight on the Grandma Lucy's alone so we've added some puppy kibble (even though he's an adult) plus some extra protein. He's been on this a week so we don't think the new food is a problem. We also give him Dr. Goodpet probiotics.

HI this is DRB and I would be happy to help you with this. This is what you need to do:

1. Get him on highly digestible diet like Iams low residue formula (vets carry this). Stop the other foods

2. Stop the probiotics: even though I use probiotics in practice, using them without definite need can actually worsen diarrhea

3. Stop the puppy kibble. Too rich for him

4. get him to the vet and have him dewormed with drontal and then fenbendazole. And while he is taking these I would give him a 10 days course of metronidazole. Make sure to change diet at same time.

If you do everything I have outlined above you will have a healthy dog with normal stool in 1 month

Sincerely, DRB

Please hit rate my service as that is the only way I am compensated. Thank you very much.
