Customer Question

I have a 7 month old female 56 lb golden retriever. She had a big mucus like BM last night @ 4 am and one the night before. She's had an appetite for food and for playing, running. In other words she's been acting "normal".
A few weeks ago she had a similar problem and we think she ate some acorns.
Now, I have not seen her eat any acorns but I think she may have eaten a small piece of foam from a bed and/or a couple holly berries or leaves.
Can I wait and see how she does today and Sunday or should I call the vet ASAP.

Hi, I can help you with your question today.

Since she's eating and acting normally, you can continue to watch and wait.

In the meantime, you can feed her a bland diet of boiled white rice and boiled chicken.

You can also use an over the counter human probiotic like Culturelle.

Break one capsule over her food once daily.

is brown rice ok? or stick to white?
Expert:  brisadog replied 1 year ago.

White rice is better because it is lower in fiber.
