I have a 4 month old australian shephard I live on .a ranch 50 miles from town and she got bit by a rattlesnake I have some dexomithosone antiinflamatory and wanted to inject her how much do I give her

Hello. Thanks for the question.

With rattlesnake bites, the best option is antivenin. If that's not an option, then Benadryl and steroids can be used.

I would give oral Benadryl at a dose of 1-2 mg per lb body weight. It can be given every 6 hours I would give it for a good 6-8 hours.

With injectable Dexamethasone, I would give a dose of 0.2 mg/kg (0.1 mg per lb) sub Q/ under the skin every 12-24 hours for 3 days.
