I have an 85 pound pitbull, the past few days he has been drinking an excessive amount of water...he never finishes a whole bowl of water and he has been drinking the whole bowl a few times a day..should I be concerned??

Yes, polydipsia (increased thirst) is seen with quite a few disorders. Diabetes mellitus and Cushing's disease (both would also cause polyphagia/increased hunger), both hepatic and renal insufficiency, hyperthyroidism (rare), electrolyte (sodium, potassium, calcium) imbalances, Addison's disease (rare), and diabetes insipidus (rare) are considered. Blue's vet will want to perform a thorough physical exam on Blue including diagnostics in the form of blood and urine tests - which are best performed after a 4 hour (at least) fast. Water should never be restricted, however.
