Cairn terrier on 50 mg Atopica due to extreme food

Customer Question

Cairn terrier on 50 mg Atopica for 6months due to extreme food allergies- immune disorder- she's been spitting out the Atopica recently. Just noticed she has bloody loose stools. Otherwise alert and active. Does this warrant a visit to the emergency vet? She just had blood drawn with her visit to the dermatologist- results pending.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your wee one’s situation, and wanted to help.

Again I do apologize that my colleagues could not aid you sooner, but can you tell me:

How much blood did you see? A spoonful, more or less?

Any chance she has eaten anything harmful (ie human medications, plants, sharp non-edible items)?

Are her gums pink or pale/white?

Any tenderness, tensing or pain when you press on her stomach?
