Customer Question

My neighbor's Cocker Spaniel is about ten years old and is having a hard time breathing. She is panting and my neighbor believes he had a high fever last night. He seems a little better this morning but is still panting for no reason.
What should I suggest he do. My neighbor is 85 years old and his dog is his life.
Thank you.

Hello Richard, I'm Dr. Deb and will do my best to help you today.

I'm sorry for this concern over Teddy. I do have a few additional questions which I'm not sure you'll be able to answer since he's your neighbor's dog but I'll ask anyway.

1. Can his temperature be taken?

2. What color are his gums and tongue?

3. Is he lethargic or is he moving around?

4. Is he panting when he lays down or only when he walks?

5. Is he eating/drinking?

There may be a slight delay after I receive your answers since I have to type up a response to you. Thanks for your patience. Deb
