My dog has struvite and has been well managed with uroeze.

Customer Question

My dog has struvite and has been well managed for years with uroeze. It has been out of stock everywhere for some time. I have been using cranberry comfort instead but she seems to be symptomatic again--mucus in urine, licking after peeing, etc. What can I use to acidify her urine until this shortage is over?

I am sorry to hear you are worried about your dog and the shortage of Uroeze. I am a veterinarian and will do my best to help.

Cranberry can help with preventing urinary tract infections, but is not a very good urinary acidifier. There are some special diets like C/D, S/D, and Royal Canin Urinary S/O that are good for acidifying urine.

The active ingredient in Uroeze is ammonium chloride; you may be able to find generic ammonium chloride.
